Associate Director, Engagement Strategy, Global Creative Studio

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in concepting and bringing to life transformative solutions for businesses and brands. In our new engagement strategy discipline, you will be a lynchpin for our new engagement strategy discipline, collaborating with (and in some cases leading) partners and creatives to uncover new opportunities and deliver actionable strategies to help transform Illumina’s brand, place in the industry, and the world. You have a curious and creative mind, coupled with a keen commercial expertise and you are always able to create aspirational, big ideas with actionable strategies. Your goal is not just to just solve apparent problem, but to challenge yourself and others to solve problems we didn’t even know we had.

You are someone who draws personal satisfaction from transforming something through innovation – both incremental and total. You love to redefine how customers interact with our brand. This is a team entrusted with a seat at the executive table because they understand critical parts of corporate strategy while also being creatively and action-oriented enough to bring transformative ideas into the real world, at scale.

Responsibilities :

  • Interact with Director/ VP-level partners to identify new opportunities as well as following up on them over time .

  • Drive strategic narrative across all initiatives, working closely with the Director of Brand Strategy to prioritize opportunities and elevate conversations.

  • Field and priori tize internal and external asks with the help of creative studio leadership.

  • Demonstrate f lexibility and adaptability to work across diverse global partners and teams.

  • Define a position as a master of listening with a strong ability to hear what partners are really saying.

  • Define and author research plans, creating a structure in which insights can be uncovered.

  • Guide others in primary and secondary business and creative research, including stakeholder interviews.

  • Effectively package and share insights and recommendations to partners.

  • Elevate the strategic thinking and capabilities of other creative studio team members.

  • Take ownership of workshop approach and outcomes, ensuring it delivers on the critical outcomes sought (creating innovative activities to draw out fresh ideas . )

  • Help own and drive the overall strategy – making sure that the portfolio of business elements works holistically.

  • Ability to evangelize the power of a strategy-based work both to partners and inside the creative studio.

  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to ensure collaboration, efficiency and seamless transitions between different subject matter experts .

  • Constantly challenge the creative studio team to consider (and reconsider) the way we run our own work.

  • Establish KPIs .

  • Collaborate with partners to prioritize investments and remove barriers to implementation.

  • Building a culture of strategic thinking and desire to elevate team members and partners.

  • Defining what needs to be done before it is articulated, working ahead of Director of Brand Strategy and other creative studio leadership to help craft prioritizations and narratives.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in business consulting, brand consulting and/or innovation consulting.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus relevant work experience; MBA strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated humility, collaboration, and leadership skills, combined with optimism, and an inventive and entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Business acumen and commercial expertise, with curiosity and a creative mind that flourishes in out of box thinking.

  • Mastery of breaking down silos and creating an inclusive environment.

  • Tangible case studies of business/innovation strategy you helped launch on behalf of large clients .

  • Proven team leadership and management experience, with the ability to inspire teams and educate without being condescending.

  • A drive to extract the beauty out of a problem.

  • A tireless desire to learn driven by curiosity.

  • Excitement about helping to shape big, industry-defining ideas.

  • Emotional intelligence.
