Job Summary

Please note due to the current situation, there is no specific base location as most of the work will be carried out remotely with the learners. However when it is safe to work in an office environment, we do expect the successful candidate to be based in one of our offices – we are currently have offices in London, Leeds, Coventry, Wrexham and Norwich

If so, St Giles Trust is looking for Peer Advisor Network Caseworker to join us and provide a high-level service to our peer advisors in order to help them overcome the added challenges that COVID-19 presents.

About St Giles Trust

An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others. In response to COVID-19, our peer advisor network has been awarded a 6-month top up grant to allow us to meet the significantly increased needs of our peer advisors which is where you come in.

About this vital role

Work with hub teams to identify peer advisors who need extra support, take responsibility for a caseload of clients and keep recording systems up to date. You will also regularly liaise with peer advisors and regional teams to agree and regularly review an action plan that addresses wider barriers. Providing day-to-day support to peer advisors to enable them to achieve agreed targets and outcomes will be key, as will putting into place any corrective action to address any shortfall. When it comes to promoting projects with partner agencies, other St Giles trust teams and referral organisations to identify and receive appropriate referrals, again, we’ll count on you to deliver.

What we are looking for:

  • A good understanding of the issues faced by our client group, and the barriers faced when starting employment, particularly by people with lived experience
  • A proven ability to assess client needs, provide client led support and constructive feedback motivate and encourage individuals to make progress
  • Experience of providing support remotely and building relationships and improved outcomes by phone and online
  • Knowledge of current agencies available for sourcing employment, training, housing support, substance misuse support and other related barriers and the ability to help clients to access them
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships with other staff, volunteers and partners to achieve targets and resolve conflicts of interest professionally
  • Good IT skills and a flair for setting up and operating systems to monitor and report on work

Please note: an enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
