Job Description

What you’ll be doing…

We are looking for a Data Analyst who is ready, willing and able to work on a portfolio of innovative projects to enable digital operations excellence in the Verizon Business Group (VBG) with Customer Operations. The program direction includes artificial intelligence, operations automation, and industry leading omnichannel technology to improve the efficiency and client experience of our services. The Data Analyst will be using critical thinking skills to analyze a global network operations environment to transform data into actionable intelligence.

You will take responsibility for collecting data, developing reports, and troubleshooting data issues. You will provide data access and enhance the quality of the overall data structures feeding the data science program. You will transform complex data into easily understood actionable information.Managing master data, including creation, updates, and deletion.

  • Works closely with Data Engineers to ensure data quality and availability for analytical modelling.

  • Provide quality assurance of imported data.
  • Help develop and generate reports and analysis.
  • Explore suitable options and designs for specific analytical solutions.
  • Extract, load, and transform (ELT) based on defined requirements.
  • Identify gaps and implement solutions for data security, quality and automation of processes.


What we’re looking for…

You flourish in a fast-paced environment and can quickly adapt to changing priorities. You have exceptional critical thinking skills and like to uncover solutions. You are flexible, dependable and work well individually and as part of a team.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years’ experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience using Oracle or MS SQL in production environments.
  • Basic experience in data engineering, databases and data analytics.
  • Experience with reporting and BI packages e.g. Tableau, QlikView, SAP BO etc.
  • Experience with programming languages like UNIX shell scripting, Python etc. preferred

Even better if you have:

  • A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, IT, or related field.

  • Experience working in a network operations center environment.
  • Experience on Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Spark, HBase, CouchDB, Hive).
  • Critical thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Create & maintain operational processes of existing and new reports
  • Partner with onshore & offshore resources assisting with report development and operational processes
  • Troubleshoot & unblock processing issues as they occur during routine report refreshes
  • Maintain and enhance game title metadata classifications
  • Interface with business users and engineering teams to bridge the gap in terms of data needs and business term/logic understanding
  • Leverage industry best practices in establishing repeatable BI practices, principles & processes


Qualifications

  • A passion for gaming and curiosity for the overall gaming and PC industry
  • A desire to learn and understand how data flows, starting from our gamers interacting with our products and services to seeing that data land in our systems and converting this data into actionable insights
  • Unique balance of technical, development, project and program management skills
  • Competency in database (relational and columnar) and development programming frameworks – e.g. experience with technologies such as SQL (Server/SSIS/SSAS), C#, Cosmos, Azure Data Lake, Kusto Redshift, Hadoop or similar
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft BI toolsets, in particular building PowerBIs visualizations and supporting data models
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (e.g., creating formulas, pivot tables)
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle ambiguity and bring clarity and vision to such situations
  • Strong ability to articulate vision, requirements & benefits, providing a solid rationale to multiple business and technical partners
  • Strong communication skills, excellent collaboration and negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively across teams and organizations in a global work environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment among a diversity of disciplines

Partner with cross-functional teams to realize data relationships through proper threading

Follow data privacy and protection processes required and implement systems and workflows that enforces security

Partner with Data Custodian/Stewards and other data management roles to ensure proper data operations improve quality, accessibility and value of consumed data

Partner with Ops and IT to develop CX-wide data and information architecture

Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques

Provide clear, impactful outputs that tell a story and point to key takeaways and learnings

We are seeking high-energy and qualified candidates who possess the following skills and experience:

Minimum: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field

Preferred: Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field

4-6 years of experience working with extremely large datasets, ETL processing and Machine learning pipelines

Minimum 3 years’ experience in SQL/NoSQL required

Experience in Python/R and Data Warehousing required

Experience with CRBO and Snowflake required

We are a fully remote company based in Canada. We are looking for a data analyst to handle all our data operations. We are currently using hull.io to fetch data from our MySQL database, hubspot, chargebee and intercom. We need someone to manage this operation to unify and map our data across these platforms. In addition to keeping our data accurate, we would also require visualizations and workflows to be created in HubSpot. Experience with hubspot is necessary as well as the ability to write MySQL queries. This position is for Canadians only and is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Create MySQL queries to retrieve metrics from our database
  • Use hull.io to fetch, unify and push data
  • Manage properties from intercom and hubspot that need to be fetched and pushed
  • Create workflow automations in hubspot as directed by marketing and sales
  • Create dashboards in hubspot to efficiently analyze data
  • Work with engineers to ensure proper JS snippets and webhooks are executing to track data
  • Create a system to monitor and keep data organized

Experience Required

  • Experience writing MySQL queries
  • Experience creating workflows, deals and dashboards in hubspot
  • College / university degree
  • Experience using Hull.io (bonus)
