Zillow Group is looking for a highly engaged Director of Strategic Sourcing to join our Finance organization. As a leader within the Procurement team, you will report to the Senior Director, Procurement, and be responsible for developing a world-class sourcing program, establishing category management strategies, and executing complex negotiations. Your leadership will contribute directly to Zillow’s mission – giving people the power to unlock life’s next chapter.

About the role

Build and inspire a cohesive, high-performing sourcing team supporting all key spend categories

Lead the overall sourcing function, including development and execution of category management plans, sourcing events (e.g. RFPs, RFIs), supplier negotiations, sourcing playbooks, and sourcing intake and pipeline processes

Partner with other business leaders to help navigate complex operations and spend initiatives with significant spend and risk; drive cross-functional cost containment efforts

Spearhead the development and delivery of meaningful cost savings reporting and spend analytics for partners across Zillow

Align with key functions and leaders both within Procurement and across Zillow to ensure Sourcing and Procurement are positioned to support growth across product and business lines. This includes optimizing structure and processes of the team to meet the needs of a fast-growing and fast-evolving enterprise

Develop and continuously improve sourcing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and control frameworks

Proactively work with partners to deliver on various activities including:

  • Budget planning and category management activities
  • Complex RFIs, RFPs, and negotiations
  • Spend monitoring / spend management initiatives
  • Contract review processes and procedures
  • Risk and supplier relationship management efforts


Who you are

  • 10+ years of increasing strategic procurement/sourcing leadership experience, including proven experience building, leading, and inspiring teams of sourcing professionals at mid-to-large company
  • Not content with the status quo, enjoy the challenge of building and architecting
  • Recognized as a credible, caring, and trustworthy leader
  • Passionate about building a high-impact Sourcing team that functions as a strategic partner to the business
  • Enjoy the process of developing and continuously improving sourcing playbooks, sourcing intake/pipelines, and other sourcing procedures and tools
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with a demonstrable track-record of high performance in complex sourcing activities and competitive sourcing events for a broad range of spend categories
  • Demonstrated experience using procure-to-pay, sourcing, and contract management software solutions required; experience implementing or using tools such as Scout, Workday Procurement, or Icertis is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding critical thinking, process improvement, and analytical skills
  • Consistently demonstrate a sense of urgency, attention to detail and financial acumen
  • Ability to quickly adjust to changing priorities and make decisions with limited information. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and championing change
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or similar; advanced degree (e.g. MBA) preferred
