Job Description

TE Connectivity is seeking a safety professional for its automotive campus in Greensboro, NC. The campus has been recognized as a “Carolina Star” site by the State of North Carolina for its safety and health management systems and performance. Serving as a Carolina Star, the Greensboro campus is a model for other sites seeking to improve their own health and safety performance. Their Carolina Star recognition also allows the campus the opportunity to benchmark against, and learn from, other health and safety leaders in the State. This ideal candidate for this position will complement the campus’ Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team with technical and tactical support. This role requires the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the business. Candidates identified for on-site interviews will be asked to offer a brief presentation to the site leadership and EH&S teams to effectively communicate their interests, skills, and notable accomplishments.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Conduct formal and systematic reviews of campus operations and activities to determine applicability of federal, state, local and TE Connectivity health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Ensure continued compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Provide regular reports to the EH&S Manager regarding compliance status, the cost of compliance and the results of audits and inspections
  • Regularly monitor and report leading health and safety metrics to campus leadership team
  • Measure, monitor, and analyze safe and at-risk behaviors; and introduce, for management consideration, initiatives that promote safe behaviors and correct at-risk behaviors
  • Lead monthly meetings with each department’s leadership team to offer support, ensure compliance and solicit buy-in for new and existing health and safety programs
  • Facilitate risk assessments related to tasks performed (Job Hazard Analysis), new equipment introductions and process changes to recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures
  • Facilitate incident investigation for incidents, near misses, unsafe acts or unsafe conditions with a high potential severity and/or likelihood
  • Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs, evaluate incidents for trends and introduce, for management consideration, recommendations for new policies and practices
  • Critically review and improve existing training programs and methods to best protect employees, contractors and visitors
  • Communicate across all levels of the organization to provide EH&S support
What your background should look like:
  • Minimum 2 years experience in EH&S, preferably in a manufacturing facility
  • Background in a fast-paced environment, simultaneously working on multiple projects that may involve several stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) law and regulations for General Industry required
  • Strong knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 for Construction, preferred
  • Interest in personal and professional growth, to include growth in environmental compliance and sustainability
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills
  • Self-driven and able to manage multiple and changing priorities with little direction and supervision
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolution
  • Able to understand and execute processes including: recognizing customer needs, communicating process changes, measuring and assessing success and identifying areas of improvement
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to form successful working relationships quickly at all levels
  • Working knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
