Grants Associate, Corporate Social Responsibility

Position Type: New

Employment Type: Full-time

Location: Flexible, but prefer Washington, D.C., or New York, NY

Summary: The Cognizant U.S. Foundation supports organizations working to inspire, educate and prepare people of all ages to succeed in the workforce of today and tomorrow. Since 2018, the Foundation has committed $50 million to ensure all individuals have equitable opportunity to thrive in the digital economy. With a timely mission and sizeable resources, the Foundation is looking for the ideal candidate to join our team and support program implementation and grants management. This person will oversee and execute on both pipeline development and grant activities.

The position requires experience in program management and domestic and international grantmaking; an understanding of the education and workforce landscape; and an affinity for data collection and reporting. We are especially interested in applicants who value working on small teams, thrive in fast paced environments and have a demonstrated commitment to our mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation (20%)
    • Support the development and implementation of comprehensive grants programming, including management of specific grant portfolios
    • Develop and implement grantmaking strategies aligned to the Foundation’s mission and theory of change
    • Liaise with corporate volunteering team and local outreach activities to ensure alignment and amplification of the Foundation’s investments
    • Create strong relationships with grantees and potential grantees
  • Grants Administration (30%)
    • Execute grant agreements, disbursements and reporting on behalf of the Foundation and grantees
    • Schedule check-in calls and report on grantee progress to the Foundation, Board and Cognizant leadership
    • Liaise with Cognizant counterparts in CSR and employee volunteering to ensure alignment and success of grantees
  • Reporting (25%)
    • Ensure progress and success of grants through reporting mechanisms, site visits and evaluations
    • Establish and maintain reporting and disbursement schedules
    • Identify and develop solutions based on grantee learnings to ensure success and efficiency
  • Pipeline Management (15%)
    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of aligned organizations, as well as manage pipeline application and RFP process
    • Conduct site visits and interviews with potential grantees
  • Communications and Event Support (10%)
    • Support planning and execution of events on behalf of grantees and the Foundation in communities across the U.S.
    • Attend grantee and potential grantee events and conferences

Requirements

  • Two years minimum experience working in a grantmaking role directly with CSR/mission-driven/social purpose projects
  • Grantmaking experience within education and/or workforce; fluency with monitoring and evaluation tools and a proven track record of success in project management
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and work of the Foundation; commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion within all functions of work
  • Proven ability to oversee projects from initial strategy through tactical implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, understanding of inclusive and equitable grantmaking practices, and ability to communicate across a variety of channels and mediums
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated curiosity and learning orientation, positive attitude, willing to jump in on any and all type of work
  • Due to COVID-19, all travel is suspended; once in a safe environment, the role is expected to travel 10-30%
