Job Description

Job Summary:

Illumina has a great opportunity for an experienced Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) Manager interested in joining a fast-paced, high growth environment. This role will report to the Director of People Technology & Analytics and be responsible for managing our Solution Design and Configuration team globally supporting Human Resources and cross-functional groups.

The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience as a Manager in HRIS or IT with a thorough understanding of Human Resource technology, programs and processes. Top candidates will have direct experience managing teams through multiple concurrent projects with involvement in solution design, process optimization, technology assessment, business case development, implementation and vendor management.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • As part of a collaborative team, be a leader in the configuration, testing, and implementation of new Workday modules, projects, and enhancements
  • Work with functional team members to understand requirements and communicate system capabilities/limitations
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Provide direct leadership, guidance and mentorship to the Solution Design and Configuration team
  • Lead and manage Workday releases identifying impacts and enhancements, directing regression testing and configuring required changes
  • Escalate critical risks, issues, changes, problems or delays to the project sponsor and People Technology & Analytics leadership as needed
  • Partner with business owners to identify opportunities to optimize business processes
  • Partner with key stakeholders to create business requirements documents, system configuration documents, detailed functional specification documents, test plans and test cases
  • Maintain proper change management documentation to satisfy internal/external audit controls and compliance practices

Characteristics of a Successful Candidate:

  • Familiarity and experience with HR programs, systems and processes
  • Ability to work effectively with global HR leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives, prioritization, and successful project delivery
  • Utilizing proven interpersonal and change management skills, overcome resistance to new processes and technologies
  • Strong business acumen to recommend optimal solutions to complex business problems by critically evaluating and distinguishing user requests from the underlying true business needs
  • Self-starter with proven ability to produce positive results under tight deadlines with limited resources

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of Workday Business Process and Security configurations experience
  • 3+ years of management experience, managing and prioritizing day-to-day work and coaching and developing technical and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday HCM and at least two other functional areas: Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence Management, Compensation, Talent, Security and/or Reporting
  • Ability to think critically and creatively in developing solutions to challenges
  • Proven ability to collaborate well with cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills
  • Capable of performing well in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • Experience in life sciences, biotechnology, high-tech or related field is preferred
