Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking to fill Intern – Materials & Processes Engineering roles for Summer 2021 at its Canoga Park, CA location. Internships will start in approximately May/June and end in August/September.
These roles will be supporting rocket propulsion materials and process development. After orientation and training, interns will perform entry-level engineering assignments under direct supervision of other engineers following established procedures and policies. These positions will support senior engineering staff and provide interns experience and familiarization with Aerojet Rocketdyne programs, processes and products. Projects may include materials engineering support for propulsion hardware design and fabrication and test. Tasks may also include assisting in the selection of materials for product definition and application, the calculation of design allowables from literature and experimental data, the performance of material properties testing, and the generation of technical reports and presentations to document technical conclusions/findings. Interns may also coordinate test activities in the laboratories.
Ability to perform statistical analysis of data in Microsoft Excel
Experience with data mining

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
