Job Description

The Lead, Database Administration manages and maintains all production and non-production databases. Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. The Lead, Database Administration works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.


Responsibilities

The Lead, Database Administration performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost for Humana Government Business (HGB). Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.


Required Qualifications

  • Our Department of Defense contract requires U.S. Citizenship for this position

  • Successfully receive interim approval for government security clearance (eQIP – Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing)

  • 5 plus years of technical experience with SQL server and integration services

  • Database performance management/monitoring experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Stored Procedures

  • Experience integrating new technologies with existing technologies

  • Experience implementing technologies with enterprise-wide impact

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical area desired), or equivalent technical training

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a team development setting

  • Strong, demonstrated strategic, analytical thinking, and consulting skills

  • Work At Home (WAH) – Temporary Due to COVID-19 emergency. Please note this permanent position allows you to work at home indefinitely until further notice. See additional information in section below.

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role). A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 10×1 (10mbs download x 1mbs upload) is required. A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell, Sentryone, SolarWinds DPA and/or ActiveBatch

  • Working knowledge and/or prior experience with delivering solutions in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure, AWS and/or FedRAMP

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • One or more of the following: CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP
