Do you want to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities?
NECS is looking for knowledgeable, experienced and committed care professionals to join the LeDeR (NECS) Team on a fixed term contract to undertake mortality reviews as part of the national LeDeR Mortality Review Programme.
The Learning Disabilities Mortality Review (LeDeR) Programme was one of the recommendations from the Confidential Enquiry into premature deaths of people with learning disabilities (CIPOLD). NECS has been commissioned to undertake outstanding reviews from 2016 to December 2018.
This role will deliver LeDeR reviews as part of a wider team operating at a regional level and alongside other teams working across England.
The successful candidates will:
- Demonstrate credibility and capability to undertake reviews as part of a team
- Support band 6 reviewers to undertake reviews
- Ensure appropriate clinical governance of the process and its deliverables
- Support in the identification of reviews that require a multi-agency review
- Draw out learning, recommendations and action plans for local implementation
- Communicate and collaborate with local CCG’s, statutory providers, safeguarding leads, private providers and voluntary sector providers as appropriate
- Provide accurate and timely management of information relating to LeDeR reviews and ensure the team submit review progress updates into the information management system.
- Engage with families and advocacy services where appropriate to collect and collate the relevant clinical and social information in order to complete the review
- Collect and collate qualitative and quantitative data as required by the programme.
- Challenge practice / service delivery and recognise the support needs of reviewers, and Project Support Staff who may be experiencing emotional issues as a result of the involvement with families.
- Take responsibility for the day to day supervision of band 6 reviewers and project support staff
- Organise and provide case management and clinical supervision for individuals and any group supervision as required.
You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure. Base negotiable and you may be required to travel and work out of other locations as required. Full training will be provided on the LeDeR review process. However, knowledge of health and care pathways relating to learning disabilities is essential.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to improve the care and treatment of patients with learning disabilities. Although clinical supervision and project support will be provided, you should be self-motivated and able to work autonomously if necessary.

There is no longer a reason for the daily roll call, of the need to be seen with your butt on your seat in the office. The technology to work remotely and to avoid the daily grind of commuting and meetings has finally come of age, and bestselling authors Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson are the masters of making it work at tech company 37signals.
