Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Logistics specialist will work in conjunction with the Logistics manager to ensure timely arrival of product to various locations throughout the world. Success in this position will mean delivery time-lines are communicated and met, packaging instructions are followed, packaging is optimized, freight rates are current and competitive, and standard operating procedures are documented.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:

  • Create and maintain product packaging guidelines which include; barcoding, carton size, carton pack and carton artwork.
  • Create and update container loading instructions.
  • Assist in the routing of international and domestic freight.
  • Track shipments and maintain transit reports.
  • Communicate regularly with freight vendors.
  • Audit inbound shipments to confirm the packaging guidelines were followed.
  • Distribute import/export shipping documentation to appropriate parties.
  • Research and resolve issues regarding freight and customs billings.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures for the Logistics department.
  • Assist in further development of the Import Compliance Program.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

High School Degree required.

Previous experience with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

The Ideal Candidate must be: Enrolled in an accredited Supply Chain program, Detailed Oriented, Able to multi-task, A creative thinker who seeks to improve processes

COMMUNICATION/INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices.
  • Provides occasional guidance, some of which is technical.
  • Ability to enjoy and want to help and serve others


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
