JOB PURPOSE

Assist in repairs and fabricates machine parts using specialized shop machines and tools. Makes machine components to blueprint tolerances. Repairs and maintains machine shop machinery and manufacturing equipment. Performs all duties with strict observance to cGMP’s, cSOP’s, cGDP’s, EHS, and other internal and external regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs machining work to repair machine components or damaged parts, and fabricates new parts using lathes, surface grinders, milling machines, drills, engravers, power tools, hand tools, and other machine shop equipment based on drawings, samples, or sketches. Proficiently performs tasks such as grinding, polishing, boring, cutting, bending, sizing, shaping, slotting, milling, planning, sanding, welding, fabricating and filling. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and, clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

Reads and correctly interprets blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.

Inspects incoming components and materials with precision instruments to assure compliance to blue prints tolerances or customer requirements.

Fabricates and inspects parts with precision instruments to assure quality and compliance with blue prints tolerances.

Creates shop drawings of parts and drawings of assemblies fabricated in the machine shop.

Installs machine components and checks for proper performance.

Keeps records and documents for work performed.

Fills out all necessary documentation to comply with Company specifications (SOP’s).

Self-starter and capable of working with minimum supervision.

Performs preventive maintenance work and reports according to established standards.

Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in the cleanest and ordered conditions.

Is responsible for equipment and tools to perform daily work.

Is responsible for the requesting of parts, materials, and replacement tools following up on requests in a timely manner.

Dismantles assemblies to gain access to and remove defective parts and to install new or repaired parts.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

Teamwork oriented.

Able to work extra hours, Holiday (eg. Shutdowns, special projects).


QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Tool and Die Maker Associates degree or 4 years of experience in precision work. Must know precision work, basic drafting. Prepares sketches and fabricates machine prototype parts for new machine assemblies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with the immediate supervisor, peers and coworkers.


TECHNICAL SKILLS

Good technical communication skills. Must be knowledgeable in the use of machine shop equipment such as: lathes,

surface grinders, milling machines, drills, engravers, sand blasting, welding equipment, measuring instruments, etc.

COMPANY REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

Observes and promotes company security, industrial hygiene, cGMP’s, procedures and other security measures already established by the company; should inform any violation


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with the appropriate safety equipment that Company provide). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
