Maintenance Manager

The purpose of the role is to create and implement Maintenance, Facilty and Assets Reliability (AR) strategy for Lovosice factory to optimize cost, improve asset performance, lead assets maintenance / facility activities and ensure to have right capabilities & competencies to provide full support to the production.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Proactively coach, mentor and develop the team of engineers, technicians and specialists (50 people in total)
  • Ensure maintaining highest maintenance standards in production lines, bulk handling system, utilities operations and maintenance, facility management
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with the core teams
  • Develop and implement Maintenance and Facility strategy to ensure cost-effective assets maintenance
  • Implement standardized best practice processes and systems to optimize maintenance strategies
  • Ensure legal, quality and safety compliance of the equipment, utilities and infrastructure of the factory
  • Lead saving programs and initiatives to optimize relevant costs
  • Build internal expertise in continuous improvement methodology and supporting development of the operators’ technical skills
  • Maintenance/ facility management /manufacturing/engineering experience
  • University degree or technical high school diploma with demonstrated successful career path
  • Min. 2-year experience in people manager role in a factory or very good experience as individual contributor in maintenance
  • Very good English and fluent Czech/Slovak – must have
  • Understanding of the continuous improvement methodology and status quo questioning mindset
  • Six sigma (TPM) experience and a practical application of PM/AM would be a strong asset
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills, being a trustworthy partner and team-player

At our Company’s manufacturing facility in Elkton, Virginia, we currently have several Maintenance Manager (shift supervisor) positions available at the Elkton Campus; which is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility is a short distance from major state universities: University of Virginia and James Madison University.


Position Description:

The Maintenance Manager will manage all maintenance activities and the associated union hourly workforce to ensure attainment of business results on their respective shift. The incumbent will effectively collaborate within a team environment with the responsibilities of maintenance execution, effective administration of personnel performance policies and procedures, management of change, and the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

The Maintenance Manager will work with operations and technical staff in supporting equipment startup, process and area qualification, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and training development, process validation, and the training and development of the maintenance staff to support commercial demand in various site operations. The Maintenance Manager will perform and participate in safety, environmental, and quality audits and investigations and be involved in implementation of related corrective actions.

The Maintenance Manager will ensure that supervised personnel maintain equipment Right the First Time per standard operating procedures and in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), safety, and environmental regulations. Due to the high impact nature of this role, it is essential that the incumbent demonstrate integrity, credibility, and flexibility in their daily performance so as to motivate others to do the same.

The Maintenance Manager will perform the following tasks, but not be limited to: Coaching and mentoring teams, First Responder interviews for Level 3 Human Error related QN’s, Line clearance lockout/tagout and permit writing for maintenance activities, Safety Management Information Systems (SMIS), Daily Safety Check Sheet/Walkabout, actively lead the Tier 1 Process and participate in the Tier 2, initiate batch sheets and SOP/PM/Calibration redlines and revisions, performance management, problem solving, coordinate the activities of multi discipline employees (CT’s, Mechanics, HVAC Mechanics and PSO), SAP Triage, adherence to team performance and standardized work, and the ability to direct mechanics when needed.


Position Qualifications:


Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance or Military environments

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or similar discipline) or related scientific field (Chemistry, Physics, Math) and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance or Military environments

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or similar discipline) or related scientific field (Chemistry, Physics, Math) and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance or Military environments.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Direct supervisory experience of maintenance professionals.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate direct reports and peers to excel and “own” the process
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to perform various tasks to support the business.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, KATA problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize, align and simply to focus on and obtain business results
  • Previous experience training individuals in complex manufacturing / work environments
  • Delta V, Provox and SAP experience is a plus
