Marcom is Apple’s Global Marketing Communications group. We lead all of Apple’s advertising and marketing efforts to ensure the considered development and execution of world-class communications.
We are seeking a Music Licensing Business Affairs to support Marketing and Communications at Apple. This position will work Sr. Dir of Music and will work across all aspects music marketing, advertising, events, retail and corporate communication. You will be directly involved in the production process, communicating regularly with Music Supervisors, Production teams, Advertising Management, Marketing directors, Legal, Events teams, Product Marketing and PR
Key Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a production company, music or advertising agency.
  • Prepare budget recommendations for music and other third party elements.
  • Ability to make effective presentations on rights and licensing related topics to client groups
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex license agreements
Liaise between Music Supervisors, Producers, Advertising managers, Ad agencies and third party production companies to support music related needs across Apple.
You will collaborate with the Sr. Dir of Music on the development of strategies, budgets and the implementation of procedures to work within our service to support the business.
Research music rights holders and advise on best practices for licensing. Prepare and submit quote request letters to the rights holders. Negotiate underlying music rights clearances and fees with record labels, music publishers, managers and artists.
Negotiate work-for-hire agreements for the creation of custom music with production music companies and composers.
Maintain relationships with music rights holders, music libraries and trailer houses to ensure a clear and accurate flow of communication.
Utilize deep music licensing industry connections and contacts to provide quick analysis of song titles, to identify rights holders and to negotiate preferred rates and terms.
Liaise with outside Agencies and provide guidance to them to ensure that music clearances are in compliance with business affairs/legal, financial and administrative requirements. Liaise with internal and/or external parties with respect to any inquiries related to any licensing and payment matters.
You will work cross-functionally daily with internal teams including Legal, Production, Advertising, and Business Affairs to set strategy, optimise deal flows and implement deal terms.
You will work strategically with other internal business teams to ensure that the licenses reflect and accommodate Apple’s evolving business needs.
Track and process all license payments in various databases.
In-depth knowledge and expertise in licensing music and other third party IP for all types of media platforms worldwide is required.
Your ability to work effectively and collaboratively across multiple departments sharing your comprehensive understanding of music and media industry trends will be crucial in this role.
Education & Experience
BA in Television, Film, Communications, Publishing Marketing, Business preferred or equivalent experience
