Job Description

The successful candidate will be initially responsible for assisting with the liquidity management of the Parent Company, including preparation of liquidity forecasts and required debt issuance projections. The role will play a critical part in the strategic One Citi initiative, working with Bank and Broker Dealer Legal Entity Treasury groups and the Global Process team to significantly automate and improve liquidity analytics, and the forecasting process used for both tactical position management as well as longer term Outlooks and strategic scenario simulations. The firm has committed significant investment dollars and resources to build these core capabilities, which will include phased roll-out of interim enhancements as well as design and implementation of the desired end-state. The job environment will be fast paced and fluid, with the successful candidate capable of effectively handling shifting / conflicting priorities.

This role will closely follow latest trends in Treasury, particularly Liquidity and Interest Rate Risk management and adapt them for application within the Parent Company Treasury Group. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other Treasury areas and other functional areas. Accountable for driving significant direct results in managing liquidity and net interest margin outcomes and providing authoritative advice / recommendations regarding selecting trade-offs between multiple simultaneous constraints in liquidity levels, earnings outcomes, and debt / capital levels. Necessitates a strong understanding of technical strategy as well as business fundamentals. Responsible for collaborating across the team, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.

Key Group Responsibilities:
The Parent Company Legal Entity Treasury Group (PCo LET) engages in a wide range of activities in virtually all major Treasury initiatives including:

  • Management of Parent Company Liquidity position and funding flows including closely coordinated positioning requirements of Bank and Broker Dealer businesses.
  • Global legal vehicle re-structuring initiatives related to changes in tax rules, emerging/ongoing resolution requirements, legal entity simplification, and acquisition/divestiture activity.
  • Global M&A support for all acquisition/divestiture/joint venture initiatives.
  • Treasury support for global O&T initiatives.
  • Review / Approval of firm-wide Legal Entity Capital Requests.
  • Review / Approval of firm-wide Corporate Guarantee Requests
  • Contribution to the governance of funding, investing and analytics of the balance sheet, including:
    • Management of liquidity risk, oversight of interest rate risk, effectiveness of transfer pricing frameworks, capital/legal entity structure and capital planning as well as managing rating agency relationships.
    • Involvement in capital markets activities including Citigroup long term debt issuance, commercial paper and securitization issuance.


Position Characteristics:

  • The position will require both individual analytical work as well as partnership across teams to identify solutions inti mely manner and own the implementation / execution steps to autonomously drive open issues to completion.
  • Directs project prioritization, platform direction, and future state planning and strategic direction.
  • Exposure into various facets of Risk and Finance Processes within Citi; interacting with various levels within the organization.
  • Performs other duties and functions as assigned
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field, MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience working for a financial services organization, including Treasury and Finance highly preferred
  • Core knowledge of balance sheet analysis and asset/liability management concepts should be supplemented with in-depth experience in at least 2 of the following subject matter areas:
    • Liquidity Risk management
    • Legal Entity Funding /Treasury management
    • Balance Sheet management /Optimization, including familiarity with banking and/or broker dealer product sets
    • Multi-disciplinary Project Management
    • Financial Reporting
    • M&A activity
  • Thorough knowledge of key liquidity and Interest Rate Risk metrics, working knowledge of Citigroup Financial Systems (RUBY / PEARL / GLRS / GENESIS) a plus.
  • Proficiency with standard analysis tools (Excel / Access / SQL)
  • Excellent written and oral communication including ability to make presentations and lead large group meetings with ease in an audience appropriate context.
