Job Description

Position summary

T-Mobile USA is a leading provider of digital GSM/GPRS, UMTS, and LTE wireless voice and data technology standards. Principal Engineers, Software located in Atlanta, GA will identify new approaches to complex design problems including federated identity, complex event processing, embedded real-time and cooperating ecosystems.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leverage open source technology such as Docker, Swarm, Mesos, Marathon Bash, Javascript, Python, Git, Jenkins, Linux, HAProxy, NGINX, AWS Cloud, ELK, Java, Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra, Zookeeper, and plenty of others.
  • Integrate systems using a wide variety of interfaces including REST, SOAP, MQ, TCP/IP, and JSON.
  • Participate in code reviews and walkthroughs of technical specifications with other members of the technical team.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into documented technical and architectural specifications.
  • Design and develop software applications that deliver new business capabilities.
  • Collaborate with other teams including Business, Architecture, Enterprise Testing, Release Management, Project Management and Application Support for the successful delivery of systems enhancements.
  • Drive automation of operational processes in support of SDLC tools to enable self-service and self-governance.
  • Build and unit test production deployment packages and implementation plans for scheduled systems enhancements.
  • Utilize departmental Digital Development Lifecycle Methodology as a guide for development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Using Spring Boot, AngularJS, RabbitMQ, and Pivotal cloud foundry (PCF) to build and support scalable and high-performance micro services and configure the services through Apigee.
  • (2) Using SOAP and REST Web Services to build high-performant and scalable web applications to support a high volume of complex financial transactions.
  • (3) Utilizing Customer Transaction flows across all channels for wireless transactions and related APIs.
  • (4) Using CI/CD tools including Stash, Jenkins, Artifactory, and Ansible for Devops Model of Software Delivery.
  • (5) Performing software development utilizing agile methodologies.
  • (6) Working in full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations for complex enterprise-wide systems.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and 7 years of relevant work experience.
