Please review the following job description:

Manage a team responsible for a variety of loan origination processing, documentation, funding/disbursements and other non-life-of-loan post-closing activities for consumer, small business and wealth management loan products. Teams support multiple production channels, including the Community Bank, equity products referred by Mortgage Loan Originators, the Wealth Division and Electronic Delivery Channels in a centralized environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of retail lending products, policies, and processes for consumer, small business, and wealth products.
2. Supervise staff to ensure team production goals are achieved.
3. Develop, measure and calibrate production/quality goals for a small team, typically focused on less complex loan requests such as unsecured and CD-Savings-secured products.
4. Coordinate activities for processing personnel ensuring team members are fully utilized.
5. Complete personal development plans and recommend salary changes.
6. Recruit, develop and retain high-performing team members to ensure ongoing success in meeting department goals and necessary succession planning objectives.
7. Provide appropriate coaching and mentoring to team members and manage disciplinary issues according to procedures outlined in Human Systems policies.
8. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients/business partners, vendors, etc.
9. Ensure compliance state and federal legal and regulatory requirements.
10. Directly resolve or coordinate the resolution of client service-related problems on behalf of internal and external clients.
11. Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate risk management policies.
12. Provide leadership and direction to team members to mitigate risks within department.
13. Handle overflow processing of files as needed.
14. Assist in tracking and/or facilitation of process improvements to achieve higher results on an ongoing basis.
15. Assist with administering department strategies and budget.
16. Participate on projects as required.


Required Skills and Competencies:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Associate’s degree in business or related field or equivalent education and related training
2. Three years of banking or financial services experience
3. Two years of mortgage and/or retail loan processing experience
4. Customer service experience
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in relating to internal and external clients
6. Strong organizational skills
7. Proven analytical and problem solving abilities
8. Effectively manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
9. Ability to navigate Windows operating systems and standard Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel
10. Ability to manage and monitor the performance of others and provide effective feedback
11. Ability and willingness to make decisions and be accountable for them
12. Facilitation and presentation skills
13. Ability to travel as needed, occasionally overnight


Desired Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree, graduate degree or comparable education and related training
2. Management/leadership experience
3. Graduate of BB&T’s Leadership Development Program, Banking School or equivalent program at another financial institution
4. Advanced technical skills to include Microsoft Access and Web applications
5. Demonstrated experience with cross-functional responsibilities
6. Knowledge of and/or experience in Six Sigma process methodologies
7. Loan origination experience
