Education and Experience Required:

  • Currently attending a 4-year university, majoring in Computer Science, Information security, Computer Engineering or related curriculum.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good technical problem solving skills
  • Familiarity with Linux and ability to work in the shell
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, virtualization and containers
  • Understanding of agile development methodology
  • Knowledge of git and use of GitHub or other source code management systems
  • Interest in developing and deploying microservices in a cloud based environment.
  • Familiarity with Go programming and developing microservices is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes is highly desirable
  • Familiarity or interest in modern web tech stack for UI and build chain is highly desirable

Job Description Summary:
MAXIMUS is seeking Interns in the fields of Computer Science and Data Science for the summer/fall of 2020 with flexible starting dates between July through December. This opportunity involves designing new and creative solutions for data ingestion, data storage, data transformations and advanced analytics and visualization – that will become part of our core analytical product offerings. The selected candidate will work closely as part of a cross-functional team to identify and prioritize actionable, high-impact insights connected to many different areas of our business processes. A Data Science analyst works with the entire data lifecycle and analytics initiatives (research, design, implementation and validation) of machine learning and predictive algorithms to analyze program performance and improve operational processes.

Desired Skills
(Prior experience with one or more of these technologies is a plus but not required, however, be able to learn the technologies/tools as needed)

  • Eager and motivated individual with a strong passion for learning and creating solutions with the latest technologies.
  • Current education in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Machine Learning, or a related field – Master’s or Seniors preferred.
  • Have programming experience in Java/J2EE, Spring, Python, HTML5, JavaScript, C, C++.
  • Familiarity with Cloud technology, Big Data Tools and frameworks such as MongoDB, MySQL/SQL, Apache Kafka, Spark.
  • Experience with Machine/Deep Learning Libraries like TensorFlow/Keras/PyTorch, OpenCV, Matlab.
  • Be able to work with data visualization tools, large datasets, distributed computing tools, query languages, or relational databases.
  • Be able to apply appropriate statistical analysis and quantitative methods to create datasets, analyze existing data, and predict future trends.

Minimum Requirements:
– High School diploma with 0- 2 years of experience.

  • May have additional training or education in area of specialization.
  • Works on assignments that are routine in nature, with responsibilities easily learned on the job.
  • Acquires job skills and learns applicable policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Able to read, understand & perform assignments within prescribed guidelines.
  • Communicates routine information in a clear and accurate way with internal & external contacts.
