The Software Products Engineering (SPE) directorate for Raytheon Missiles and Defense is the central focus for real-time software development, integration, testing and validation activities for RMDs core capabilities.

Mission Areas within Raytheon Technologies RMD business include:

Advanced Technology: Develop a robust pipeline of technology discriminators and game-changing systems, including hypersonic, counter-hypersonics and next-generation radars.

Land Warfare and Air Defense: Provides the US Army, Marines and international customers with integrated air and missile defense, counter UAS, and proven precision long-range and combat weapon capabilities.

Naval Power: Provides the US and its global allies in the maritime domain with sensors, command and control and precision weapon solutions to protect allied ships and sailors around the world.

Air Power: Delivers combat, command and control, and sensor power to the US Air Force that will allow them to dominate the airspace and complete direct attack, standoff and strike missions with precision.

Strategic Missile Defense: Aligning to all missile defense technologies that enable systems to see farther and guide interceptors to their targets with even greater precision.

US Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active US security clearance within one year of employment.

Required Skills:

Candidate must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an emphasis in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related STEM field. Candidate should be planning to complete their Junior year pror to the onset of this work assignment in June 2021.

Desired Skills:

  • Cumulative 3.0 + GPA
  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Experience with Java or C++
  • Ability to work in an agile, collaborative environment
  • Understand software concepts

Required Education (including Major):

We are currently seeking Software and Systems Engineers Interns and Coops to join our team in Cedar Rapids, IA. The position will require the various phases of software development life cycle including verification of software requirements by creating and running functional tests in a laboratory test environment utilizing a combination of simulations and interfacing subsystems. The ability to pick this skill up quickly is essential.

In addition, the assignment may require assisting in other elements of the system engineering process including requirements analysis and capture, software requirements definition, integration, and formal test for requirement verification. The candidate will perform these assignments in conjunction with other system and software engineers using Collins Aerospace engineering processes.

As the ideal candidate you will be self-motivated and willing to work and learn in a fast paced environment as part of a dynamic and growing subsystem development team. Additionally, the candidate should be experienced in all facets of system development and familiar with common system engineering tools and practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

This position is for a Systems Engineering Summer Intern.

The TTI Engineering Department develops state-of-the-art test and training range products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications. We specialize in the development of high quality, highly secure training solutions for the U.S. military, laying the foundation for Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) capabilities. TTI Engineering is responsible for all product line and engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems, maturing products from concept phase through accreditation and factory production.

Our Ground Software Team is looking for a dynamic Software Engineering Intern to provide technical excellence in a fast growing Air Combat Training market. The opportunity will entail a full software development life cycle in an Agile/Scrum development environment. In addition, the candidate may assist in other elements of the software engineering process such as requirements analysis and capture, system/subsystem design, and software/hardware integration. Design & development responsibilities will span across the entire system including both ground and airborne subsystems, with a special emphasis on building a system of systems that contains multiple open standards based software applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement and test embedded, real-time software

  • Develop tools and applications for Windows and Linux environments

  • Develop innovative tools and testing infrastructures that support model-based automated code generation as well as automated build and continuous integration and test using Python and Java

  • Work in all phases of the software development life cycle using Agile development practices following the Scaled Agile Framework

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

  • Strive to consistently produce superior results, keeping project milestones on schedule and contributing to a positive work environment

  • Desire to successfully work in a team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers in person and through technology

  • Comfortable working with JAVA, python and/or Linux
