- Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 10+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience leading systems engineering activities – deriving technical hardware requirements from business goals and customer use cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts and designs to colleagues across disciplines
- Experience in communicating with end users, business teams and management to collect requirements, describe product features and refine technical designs
- Experience with power systems, communication protocols, localization systems, and embedded computing
- Strong Mathematical/Statistical/Physics fundamentals
- Proficient analog and digital circuit design
- Proficient with electronics test and debug equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer)
- Experience with industry standard PCB design tools (e.g. Altium, Cadence)
- Basic proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Python) and embedded firmware (e.g. C/C++)
- Experience managing vendors locally and abroad; driving fast development cycles
- Experience creating detailed hardware test plans and driving products through verification/validation and early manufacturing runs

As a Sr. Hardware Systems Engineer you will be a leader on the hardware development team who is responsible for the development of in-vehicle compute devices, sensors, antennas, cameras, and other equipment. You will work alongside our fleet management teams and industry OEMs to build hardware that integrates with the operation of the vehicle, while providing the safest environment for drivers. You will also be a trusted partner for your counterparts in our product management, software engineering, science, and operations teams.
You will bring a strong technical background and experience in hardware development to stand out as a senior member of the organization, participating in every phase of the product lifecycle – from ideation through development and into production. This role requires autonomy and an ability to deliver results, often within the ambiguity of building v1 products.
You will need to work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance, raising the bar to create an amazing
experience for our customers.
This position is based out of our new Amazon Bellevue campus.
- Masters of Science or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience as a technical lead for small teams of engineers; ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
- Experience working/partnering with mechanical and reliability engineers to design integrated solutions that meet stringent environmental conditions and long-life reliability targets
- Experience developing GNSS and LTE enabled systems
