PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

�Manage transmission, substation, and distribution projects consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple engineering disciplines and multiple construction areas including contract resources. � Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple construction projects and programs. Leads project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout. These projects have budgets that will typically range from $250k to $10 million. � Also, may manage non-construction projects with direct accountability to project execution while leading a team to accomplishing objections within a given time frame and with limited resources. ��

�Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. �Responsible and accountable for overall project performance for projects including major substation, transmission, and distribution construction, new technology programs, information technology and organizational initiatives.

2. �Ensures project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits.

3. �Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements.

4. �Primary communicator with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive level and interdepartmental presentations.

5. �Ensures a good working relationship between the project team, line managers, and interfacing organizations.

6. �Coaches and leads team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks.

7. �Identify and obtain project team resources.

8. �Ensures project team members understand their respective responsibilities.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Minimum:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related discipline and 5 – 8 years project management or related experience OR high school diploma and 9 – 12 years of project management or related experience

�Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects.

�Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills.

�Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills.

�Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi task environment.

Preferred:

�Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Master’s degree in Engineering or Business

�Professional Engineer License


Qualifications

The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, team performance and developing strategic plans to implement projects for various organizations. ; Responsibilities also include managing scope, budget and schedule within approved parameters and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. ; Tasks include but are not limited to, ensuring the completion of business cases, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, design and engineering tasks, vegetation management reviews, project reporting, project financial analysis, major equipment procurement, environmental analysis, obtaining real estate and relationship management with external customers, vendors, townships and regulatory agencies. Interacts routinely with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management, the Utilitys largest customers, and governmental and regulatory officials. In addition to managing construction projects ranging from $250 K to $10 million each with annual expenditures up to $30 million for all projects managed.

  • Leads high impact strategic business projects. Responsible and accountable for project execution from inception to completion and communication of results
  • Drives the ongoing institutionalization of solutions for assessing enterprise performance in alignment with Global Security Strategy and Goals
  • Evaluates determines and drives program management activities to manage one or more moderate to significantly complex projects
  • Leads multiple aspects of moderately complex financial planning, monitoring, reporting, scheduling, and communication required for project planning and control
  • Identify and deliver process improvement using Six Sigma Plus tools to measurably impact enterprise performance
  • Responsible for driving culture change as well as risk management maturity
  • Establish processes for continuous improvement and regularly evaluate degrees of success
  • Utilize tools, best practices and innovative processes to define, coordinate and implement changes to assure cost-effective Operations throughout the enterprise
  • Monitors the progress of projects, reports results and initiates corrective action as required
  • Partners with functional owners to focus on Continuous Improvement and Lean to deliver sustainable and measurable improvements
  • Coaches and Mentors functional stakeholders to scope projects and use appropriate Six Sigma tools to achieve desired outcomes, including financial goals
  • Drive Risk Management process through division
  • Responsible for sharing and standardization of best practices and processes across the enterprise
  • Supports all training activities, including providing classroom or other training as warranted
  • Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment
  • Takes actions necessary to “”stop”” work when an unsafe condition or action is identified


You Must Have:

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in project planning, project leadership role(s) or process ownership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or 2 additional years of direct work experience in lieu of a degree

  • A broad knowledge of engineering and program management processes and principles
  • Proven experience applying Six Sigma and related continuous improvement systems, methodologies, and tools
  • Bias for action with the ability to develop strategy, translate ambiguous concepts and strategies into actionable plans, and achieve sustainable change and improvement through effective project management
  • Effective communication/interpersonal skills. Ability to drive change through influence
  • Ability to provide programmatic guidance, project management, consultative services, and innovative solutions

  • Proficiency in MS office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio)
  • PMI certification preferred
