Wealth Management Technology is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Business. Practice areas include: Analytics, Intelligence, & Data Technology (AIDT), Client Platforms, Core Technology Services (CTS), Financial Advisor Platforms, Global Banking Technology (GBT), Investment Solutions Technology (IST), Institutional Wealth and Corporate Solutions Technology (IWCST), Technology Delivery Management (TDM), User Experience (UX), and the CAO team.

Capital Markets area is transforming 30+ years old systems with modern technology. This group does cutting edge technologies, and has received several industry-awards and US patents. They are involved in a major initiative involving transformation of trading systems in Capital Markets. This project, termed “Modern Trading”, is in the works for 2 years, and will continue for about 2-3 more years. E-Trade Merger has made this project even more compelling. Our approach has always been to build reusable frameworks and apply those frameworks for different asset classes: Equities, Options, Syndicates, Taxable Bonds, Municipal Bonds, etc.

The candidate will not only learn the new technologies but also contribute to the integration with E-Trade’s trading technology. Although prior experience in trading is highly preferred, we have seen that keen interest and skill in technology, and eagerness to learn can make up for the lack of experience.

The candidate will be able to pick and learn and lead in the delivery of any of the above asset classes, and additionally also work in the area of integrating these technologies with E-trade.

The candidate will possess a proven track record of success in the following areas:

1. Strong background in technical stacks: Java/.NET (Java preferred)

2. Fluid in conversing with Biz and Tech teams

3. Lead critical business initiatives

4. Business knowledge in capital markets trading technology (preferred strongly)

5. Hands-on development experience and strong eagerness to understand and develop large-grain reusability

6. Leading on-shore/off-shore development teams

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:
Overall 10+ years of experience in IT, software development, development lead and related areas
Managed large programs successfully
BS/BE degree in computer science, engineering or related field
4+ years of hands-on programming experience in various development languages such as Java, .NET
Ability to deal with ambiguity and define approaches to bring unfocused issues to resolution.
Successful track record of leading projects through the entire development life-cycle.
Very strong in analysis and design of technical solutions
Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong communication (written & verbal) organizational, interpersonal and follow through skills.
Must be able to interact with all levels of personnel within the organization and be effective with both business and technical teams.
Experienced in Agile software development practices.
Ability to understand customer business needs
Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
Good communication skills, Self-starter, Strong interpersonal and follow through skills
