Facebook is looking to hire a Vice President to lead Commerce Operations. This leader will be part of Facebook’s Global Operations organization, and will be tasked with building and running the global operations teams related to Facebook’s marketplace and commerce related product offerings. The candidate will be responsible for organizing and scaling all of the operations teams needed to support the company’s aspirations for its commerce business, including buyer support, seller support, and dispute resolution. In doing so, he or she will partner closely with (a) the Commerce Product Organization, (b) the GMS (sales) organization, including with the VP Commerce Business and Operations, (c) Product/Ads Policy, (d) the partnership organization, and (e) risk and payments.

  • Bring to Facebook prominent leadership in defining the business and operational strategy for winning-success and mission-impact related to both B2B and B2C commerce operations on the Facebook Family of Apps, working with all relevant cross functional partners including product, partnership, sales, and integrity
  • Provide and short- and long-term budgeting for Commerce Operations, prioritized appropriately within Facebook’s broader priorities, but aligned to highest ROI growth for Commerce
  • Design, build, grow, recruit and lead the global operations teams for Facebook’s Commerce and Marketplace businesses, including integrity operations, and service operations – an organization growing to 100+ FTE in near- to mid-term, with significant vendor opex budget
  • Identify service, integrity, and payment use cases and design operational processes necessary to scale and execute those processes with quality
  • Work with vendor partners in delivering operational process execution at scale, jointly plan and problem solve to provide evolving scale and continuous improvement
  • Bring and provide leadership in Operations Excellence disciplines, e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management
  • Recruit leadership bench as necessary as the Commerce Operations teams scale
  • Work closely with GMS organization to coordinate “seller support” with sales organization, especially for advertisers that interact with Facebook as merchandisers
  • Provide strong coordination and cooperation with Facebook’s Commerce Product organization to ensure alignment of product and operational roadmaps and resourcing
  • Work with Global Operations’ operations engineering teams, as well as miscellaneous product organization to ensure prioritized tool development as necessary to support scaled operations teams
  • Work with Global Operations’ quality and training organizations to equip the scaled operations workforce and ensure measurement and management of output quality
  • Work closely with Global Operations’ vendor management teams, as well as with vendors directly, to understand and forecast demand volumes, build business case for ongoing/future investment, and also coordinate with these partners to ensure ongoing process improvement of scaled operations

  • 18+ years Commerce and/or Payments operations experience, with a knowledge for online commerce and digital payments
  • 8+ years of experience leading e-Commerce operations for a company with $100 million plus in revenues
  • 12+ years general management experience in Commerce and/or Payment operations
  • Experience in managing business and operations globally, including North and South Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific
  • Experience building and scaling operational efforts
  • Experience managing and working with business outsourcing vendors
  • Experience with Operations Excellence disciplines, e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management
  • Track record of responsibility and getting leverage out of resources
  • Proven organizational and team leading experience, including developing collaborative teams
  • Experience with analytical and data driven decision-making with strategic bent
  • Experience developing and driving strategy and execution plans
  • Proven communicator with experience to simplify concepts and influence others
