Job Description

Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) is hosting VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS for Direct Support Professional positions for all qualified applicants on Tuesday, October 27th & Wednesday, October 28th from 1pm – 7pm. The interviews will take place through Indeed.com. We have residential services positions open throughout Johnson County. Apply online now and receive a call to reserve your interview time. Starting wage is $15.40/hour (or more depending on total relevant experience) plus a full benefits package beginning first of the following month including wellness programs, vacation and sick leave up to 12 days per year, tuition reimbursement and more!

Responsiblities Include:

  • Provides, assists with, or coaches individuals on personal care needs with limited supervision; provides crisis interventions, including physical intervention and restraint to ensure the safety of individuals; monitors and/or administers medication as prescribed; monitors and documents mental and physical condition of individuals.
  • Teaches, coaches and provides guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives of individuals; assists individual and family members to identify strategies or treatment options and participates in the development and modification of plans to regain ability to make independent choices and promote coping skills; develops and maintains a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers, serving as the main point of contact.
  • Organizes and participates in meetings related to care coordination; completes documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Transports individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work.

Job Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience working in a human services field is required. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.

This position requires performance of various physical components at defined standards for the safety of employees and individuals served.

Education can substitute for experience.

Candidate must be able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks, and a post offer TB test.

This position may require the use of a personal vehicle to transport clients.
